EDGE OF THE PAST by JENNIFER COMEAUX

In this brilliant s equel to Life On The Edge,we find Emily, Chris and Sergei in Russia for an important competition, but when Chris injures his shoulder, the first of their career, they have to disqualify themselves from the competition.  He finds out he'll need extensive therapy  before Worlds, but will need surgery afterwards.

Not being able to skate leaves Emily and Sergei plenty of time for sightseeing and spending time with Sergei's parents and visiting Sergei's former skating rink.  When they literally bump into Elena, the past comes and causes major fears for both Emily and Sergei and makes Emily doubt her relationship with Sergei.

When both Sergei and Emily come face to face with his daughter he never thought he'd see, Emily fights her fears of ever having a future with Sergei and Elena's animosity towards her.

Sergei is able to convince Elena to bring Liza to Boston, so she can spend time with him and have some skating lessons, as she had been skating earlier in New York.  When an incident occurs in Boston, Emily is devastated and breaks her engagement to Sergei instead of fighting to keep their relationship strong.

Emily and Chris have to fight insurmountable challenges to get through Worlds, but in the end, things happen to make them stronger.

I can hardly wait for the third and final volume of this excellently written look at the highs and lows of a figure skating team.  I highly recommend both of these books.

I give this book 5 stars.

LIFE ON THE EDGE by JENNIFER COMEAUX

When Kathy approached me about participating in the blog tour for the sequel to Life On The Edge, when I saw the cover, I knew it was about Figure Skating, which I absolutely love to watch and have been a huge fan since before Scott Hamilton won gold, so I had to read this first prequel.
Life On the Edge is the story of Emily and Chris, skaters who've recently been paired up to skate as a pair.  They have a new Russian coach, Sergei, who mysteriously quit skating with his long-time partner Elena after winning the Junior Pairs Championship.  Sergei has chosen to live in Boston to coach a younger team and help Em and Chris to fulfill their dreams of becomingm the first US Pairs Team to capture an Olympic Gold Medal.  Sergei has helped Emily to get over her fear and gain confidence, something sh had not been able to obtain with their former coach and Chris had always been able to skate with confidence and ease.

Emily and Chris are like brother and sister, so they weren't romantically involved with each other.  When the two were not skating, she and Sergei would go for coffee each morning just to talk.  After awhile of being close friends, they realized they had a lot in common  and realized their feelings for each other were getting stronger and in the Figure Skating  world, this is taboo, so they had to be     discreet when together, soas not to let on about their           relationship.  They both feel they can keep their personal and professional relationship separate.

When Emily finds out about Sergei's past, she's not sure                                    their relationship will last.  She's been able to focus on her skating, but she has issues she needs to work through.  When she and Chris win some big events, things seem to be in place for Gold at the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City.

When a Russian Coach causes trouble for Emily, Chris and Sergei, things become ugly, withtheir careers on the line.  It takes a leap of faith and friends and family to help them through.

I absolutely loved this book, learned more about the Skating world than I knew before,as Jennifer loves to go to the competitions throughout the country and we like the same skaters.  You don't have to be a fan of Figure Skating to love this book.

I give this book 5 stars.
